Principal Dentist
Dr Atif Waheed
Dr Waheed has been principal dentist at Friars Street for over 20 years. Joined in 2005.
He enjoys all aspects of dentistry but is especially proud of the connections he has made with his patients over his time at the practice.
Outside of the practice he enjoys spending time with family, going to the gym, following the England cricket team and the amazing music of Queen and George Michael.

Dr Tara Barry
Tara qualified from Guys Dental Hospital in 2007. During her studies she gained academic and clinical excellence achieving the Maurice Wohl General Dental Practice Prize.
Since qualifying Tara has held posts in Hospital, Community and General Dental Practice in and around Essex.
Tara constantly likes to update her skills; she became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2009, gained a teaching qualification in Medical and Dental Education in 2010, and recently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Conscious Sedation from Guys Dental Hospital. Alongside her clinical dentistry, Tara has been an Honorary Tutor at Barts and the London Hospital. She is currently a Vocational Trainer on the East of England Deanery where she is involved in training newly qualified dentists.
Tara has a special interest in treating nervous patients. Her calm relaxing chair side manner helps put her patient’s at ease.
Outside of Dentistry Tara enjoy spending time with her family (including her chickens and ducks) and getting things to grow in her garden.

Dr Moffat qualified from the University of Edinburgh in 1992.
She has enjoyed a long career in dental practice gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience over the years.
She is a popular choice amonst nervous patients due to her calm and friendly nature.
She joined the team at Friars Street Dental Practice in 2019.
Outside of work Dr Moffat is busy helping to run a local foodbank and Community Support Group.
She also enjoys family time, dog walks and gardening.

Dr Hassan Taqvi
Dr Taqvi completed his BDS in 1992. Continuing his professional development by receiving further training and fellowship FFD RCSI in oral surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland in 1999. In 2008 Dr Taqvi was added to the GDC's specialist register for oral surgery. In 2016 he was awarded a professorship followed by chairmanship at Liaquat University Jamshoro Pakistan. During his stay in Pakistan, he acquired wider experience in the oral and maxillofacial field, organized national and international conferences, workshops, seminars and courses for under and post graduate students.
Currently he is working around the UK as an oral surgeon consultant at several different hospitals.
During his 27 year career, he has acquired wide experience in oral surgery with special interest in implants, he has placed many implants including over 100 implants during the last 3 years at Friars Street Dental Practice.
Outside of work he loves sports, especially cricket and football, having placed cricket at District level. He hosted a TV/Radio program to enhance health awareness in the community, and loves reading historical and political books/articles.

Sonia Morrissey
Sonia joined Friars Street Dental Practice five years ago, starting her journey with us as a receptionist and progressing into her current role as Practice Manager. Her career development reflects her dedication, commitment, and passion for delivering an excellent patient experience. Sonia particularly enjoys getting to know our patients, taking time to talk with them, answer questions, and provide clear guidance on Denplan and other aspects of their dental care. She has recently completed further training through a Practice Management course, allowing her to continue developing her skills and knowledge to support both patients and the practice team. Outside of work, Sonia loves to travel and has a fondness for 80s music — and although she tries to be good, she can rarely resist a hot chocolate from Costa.

Victoria (Queenie) is a dedicated dental receptionist who has been working with us for the past two years. As the first point of contact for our patients, Vic takes pride in creating a welcoming and positive experience from the moment they walk through the door. She is passionate about her role and continues to learn and grow her knowledge every day to better support both patients and the dental team. She is a very friendly person. Outside of work, Vic loves spending time in the kitchen, with her favourite dishes to make being chilli and lasagne. She is also a big cat lover and enjoys the comfort and company they bring. She has a sweet tooth and can always be spotted munching sweets that she hides under the desk.

She is a qualified dental nurse at Friars Street Dental Practice and has been part of the team for two years. Before joining dentistry, after completing a Masters Degree in English she worked as a teacher in Pakistan, bringing strong communication and people skills into current role. She enjoys supporting fellow nurses and works confidently with general dentists, the oral surgeon, and the orthodontist, always focusing on providing high-quality care and reassuring nervous patients. Despite not being a morning person (and definitely not a fan of walking to work on a cold dark rainy day!), She is always committed to supporting the team and our patients. Outside of work, she loves going to the cinema and never says no to a good slice of cake.

Maisie is a dedicated dental nurse who predominantly works alongside the specialist orthodontist. She is passionate about delivering high quality treatments and helping patients achieve their perfect smile. She is keen to further her career in orthodontics in the future. Maisie also assists by nursing in general dentistry and you may also find her on reception. Outside of work, Maisie enjoys countryside walks with her two dogs (Charlie the Spaniel and Lenny the Labrador). She also loves going to concerts; her favourites so far being ACDC, The Pixies and Pearl Jam. She is a big foodie (her favourite food is Indian/ Korean food) and hopes to travel around the world one day to experience all types of cuisine.

Jacqueline (Jac) is our highly experienced decontamination specialist and has been a valued member of Friars Street Dental Practice for the past 12 years. She plays a vital role in keeping the practice running smoothly by ensuring instruments are sterilised, prepared and ready for use, vital for the smooth operation of our surgeries. Always prepared to support team members she is an excellent listener. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role. Jac loves to sing and keeps staff and patients entertained with her beautiful voice. She loves to spend time with her pets dogs Stanley and Maisie, and her bearded dragon, she loves dog walking. A very friendly person, she can be seen chatting with the patients and staff members. Jac is also a big fan of Vic's chilli as well.
